- The first run of the new car couldn't have gone any better really. Rob set a blistering pace in practice and backed this up by finishing 1st in class almost 7 seconds clear of second place. Along with the win he took the new class record. A few lessons were learnt on the day with the car and there are some areas that can be improved. The next event is a power circuit, something the Elise hasn't got loads of so handling is going to be critical part of the package. We are hoping the new improvements will see Rob taking the challenge to the higher power cars. - Only a few days to go before the first sprint of the year. Strangely its all starting at Rob's home track of Castle Combe. Everyone is keep their fingers crossed that the good weather we've had recently is back on Saturday.
- For 2009 we are competing the Bristol Speed Championship. Rob was the 2005 title holder and is looking forward to getting back to the championship.
- MTC Racing returns to where it all started, the Lotus Elise. Back in 2004 Rob started Sprinting and Hill Climbing in his Lotus Elise Sport 160. In 2005 the Elise was upgraded with the intention of taking the Bristol Speed Championship, and it succeeded. 2009 sees us back in Lotus Elise but this time its is a 111S. The car has the Rover VVC engine with a Lotus close ratio gearbox. It has less power than the old Sport160 but still should be able to hold its own. Which is just as well because we will be competing against our old Elise! Currently the car is being prep'd for the new season, the suspension is being refreshed and setup. We have been fitting a new oil cooler and upgraded rear toe links. Along with some additional guages and a general spanner check ready for the first meeting at Castle Combe on the 28th March
